Mike O’Shea

Mike O'Shea has developed exceptional strategic consulting, marketing, writing and editing expertise in both Australia and the U.K., working as an owner operator since 1975.  Mike’s award winning ability in marketing strategy, writing and designing commenced with J. Walter Thompson Advertising in London. He has since written and directed national and international marketing campaigns for a broad range of corporations, government departments, Universities and TAFE Institutes within Victoria. A Member of the Institute of Management Consultants, Mike has a specific interest in writing, editing, PR and conceptual design and developing business/marketing driven communication and business development strategies.

  • From 1975 to 1988 Mike owned and operated Russell Curtis and Janes Advertising Pty Ltd.
  • From 1988 to the present Mike has worked as a consultant to international business and educational establishments in Australia and the UK through his consulting business INTERgration Pty Ltd.

 

Notable Achievements:

  • 1975 Established one of Melbourne’s first Industrial and Commercial Marketing and Communication agencies. Devised and launched campaigns for Thorn Lighting Pacific, Bell and Howell Australasia and Welding Industries of Australia.
  • 1988 Appointed by the Victorian Department of Treasury to launch a marketing campaign for the Victorian Education Foundation to combine business with educational establishments in order to provide new courses for business export development. Worked with all Victorian Universities and most TAFE Institutes to write and design VEF co-operative promotional and PR material for various media. Wrote and designed the initial “Government to Business” communications material for Business Victoria. Commissioned by the Education Department to edit and simplify an extensive range of communication documents for Government Green Paper discussion on changes to Tertiary Education in Victoria.
  • 1990 Appointed by Business Victoria to devise and run some of the first “Group Delivery Workshops” for Universities and TAFE’s to develop personalised strategic business and marketing plans to introduce and provide fee for service courses.
  • 1994 Established one of the first marketing based annual reports for Gippsland Water, which enabled them to develop and grow some of the first offshore contract work in the South Pacific Islands for water treatment delivery. Continued to develop their strategic marketing plans until the final amalgamations of Victorian Water Boards.
  • 1996-1999 After developing, designing and writing a marketing and communications campaign for the Compair Group in the Australia Pacific region, was appointed by the Board in London to prepare a worldwide communications program for the group (12 month project).
  • 1999 Designed and wrote successful submission for the Victoria Police Force who were awarded the Prime Ministers Award for Technical Innovation for their “speed camera project”
  • 1999-2007 Completed a broad range of business and marketing strategy plans for small to medium sized enterprises throughout Victoria. (Many with Victorian Government support) Facilitated over fifty(50) DIIRD group delivery workshop programs, with in excess of 450 participating SME companies in Victoria, covering Risk Management, Business Development, Marketing and E-Business.
  • 2004-Present Assisting various businesses as consultant CEO in the recycling industry, database development, and IT industry including writing and designing websites and portals for their customers. Extensive branding, web and Annual Report work for a range of Victorian Healthcare Groups and Hospitals.

 

Awards:

  • Inaugural Australian Business Press Award for Excellence in Computer Writing and Marketing.
  • Minister’s Award for the best written and designed Annual Report in print and CD based multimedia form for Gippsland Water.
  • Prime Ministers Award for Technical Innovation for writing the Victoria Police “speed camera project” submission.
  • Awarded 3 successive Victorian Health Ministers Awards for the best Annual Report (interviewing, writing and designing) for the Goulburn Valley Hospital Board.
